The First Years safety gate has a hands-free mechanism, meaning that you can open it without using your hands at all. Courtesy a foot-pedal , knee-knocker mechanism, all you need to do is to press the pedal at the gate's base with your toes and knock the knee plate with your knee and the gate will open in a jiffy .The door locks in with an audible 'click' letting you know that the gate's been latched securely. The gate also swings open in both directions for convenient operation. Setting up the gate is a less than two-minute job even if you have no experience of doing such tasks.

Design and Safety: The easy operation of the First Years baby gate comes courtesy of a well thought-out design. While the gate is easy for adults to open, toddlers will not be able to open it under any circumstances, so there is no question of a safety compromise. This is because it is impossible for your toddler to apply the weight/pressure needed to press down on the pedal. The vertical bars of the gate prevent toddlers from climbing over it. The spaces between the bars offer ample visibility and an airy, comfortable zone. Made from high-quality construction material, it is a durable, sturdy product. An extension kit is highly recommended as the gate can be a tad unsteady when it is used outside its range.
